Under the direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Attorney General the Forensic Technician performs highly responsible work in assisting with the retrieval and transportation of cadavers throughout the territory. Good communication skills are an essential element of this position due to the court testimony required and the frequent interaction/coordination with management, other agencies, police officers and attorneys.


• Assists in picking up and transporting the deceased throughout the Territory.
• Acts as a liaison between the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Department of Justice.
• Assists the Special Agent’s with minor tasks relating to their investigative work
• Serves as mail dispatch and process server.
• Assists in compiling, sorting, and organizing letters for mass distribution throughout the Territory.
• Assists other DOJ staff as needed.

• Must be able to tolerate and work in hazardous environment, handle sights, sounds, and odors in a sometimes-stressful environment.
• Displays high standards of ethical conduct. Exhibits honesty and integrity. Refrains from theft-related, dishonest, or unethical behavior.
• Responds appropriately to supervision. Makes an effort to follow policy and cooperate with supervisors.
• The incumbent must have a valid U.S. Virgin Islands driver’s license.
• This position requires that the incumbent be able to travel at a moment’s notice.
• The incumbent must be willing to accommodate a work schedule of 24-hours-per-day oncall coverage for the office.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent and the successful completion of a criminal background check.
