Virgin Islands Department Of Justice Facilities Closed To The Public
- THOMAS, V.I. – Atty General Denise George today announced measures put in place to safeguard the public and Dept. of Justice employees from potential exposure to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
DOJ facilities on both St. Thomas and St. Croix are closed to the public and will not conduct person to person services until further notice. Department of Justice’s four facilities that will be closed include the Office of the Attorney General located at the GERS Building, 2nd floor in St. Thomas and #213 Estate La Reine St. Croix, the Division of Paternity and Child Support located on the 2nd floor of Nisky Shopping Center, St. Thomas and #3018 Estate Orange Grove, St. Croix.
The following services will be provided electronically or telephonically in the following manner:
- Administrative claims – Persons who would like to file administrative claims may download and print the claim forms from the DOJ website or may email AAG Ariel Smith at smith@doj.vi.gov phone…
- Criminal misdemeanor complaints – Persons may file criminal complaints for prosecution based on VIPD police reports via email and telephone. Email @ willet@doj.vi.gov
- Requests for financial/white collar/corruption investigations filed via email and phone William.curtis@doj.vi.gov …..phone
- Sex Registry – All sex offenders required to register may do so on the w…….. and via email at shani.pinney@vi.gov In-person registration for sex offenders will be suspended until further notice. Sex offenders who are residing, employed, or attending school in the Territory and need to register or update their information must do so telephonically at (340) 714-9645 and (340) 773-0295 ext. 20250 or via email at spinney@doj.vi.gov or borque@doj.vi.gov. Offenders must understand that failure to comply with these obligations will subject them to prosecution for failure to register.
- Paternity and child support – All payment s shall be made by schedule at the cashier……All customer service needs questions etc. ……. Filing of new complaints are suspended until further notice, all hearings are suspended until further notice.
VIRGIN ISLANDS DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FACILITIES CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
Virgin Islands Department of Justice facilities on both St. Thomas and St. Croix are closed to the public and will not conduct person to person services or contact until further notice. This closure is a result of the public health measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
On Thursday, our offices on St. Croix located at #213 Estate La Reine and the Paternity & Child Support office located at #3018 Estate Orange Grove will be closed from noon to 5pm. On Friday our offices on St. Thomas located at #34-38 Krondprindsens Gade, GERS Complex, 2nd floor and the Paternity and Child Support office located at # 8000 Nisky Shopping Center, 2nd floor, Suite 500 will be closed from noon to 5pm.
The Office of the Territorial Public Defender (OTPD), advises the public that, effective immediately, it will be only offering limited services to its clients and the general public territory- wide. This measure has been put in place to safeguard the public and OTPD employees from potential exposure to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
This limited service will remain in place until further notice. The Office of the Territorial Public Defender is recommending that all contact with it be conducted via telephone and/or email.
