U.S. Virgin Islands — V.I. Attorney General Gordon C. Rhea announces the arrest of 51-year-old Rupert Walters on October 8, 2026, on a warrant related to allegations that he threatened witnesses ahead of his upcoming trial.
Special Agent Kenneth Arthur of the Virgin Islands Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Special Investigations Division (SID), assisted by SID Director Homer “Jerry” Inniss, members of the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Special Response Team, and officers from the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA), apprehended Walters in Susanaberg, St. John, near the laundromat.
According to the Probable Cause Fact Sheet, officers conducted a pat-down of Walters for officer safety during the apprehension and recovered a green-and-black brass knuckles knife from his front right pocket. Under the conditions of his pretrial release, Walters is prohibited from carrying or possessing a dangerous weapon.
Following his apprehension, Walters was transported to the Red Hook Ferry Terminal and subsequently to the Richard Callwood Command, where he was booked and processed. He was then turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing before the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.
Walters is scheduled to stand trial on October 13, 2026, on serious criminal charges.
