DOJ Paternity and Child Support’s Access & Visitation Program encourages participation: DADS Take Your Child to School Day August 8th

U.S. Virgin Islands – V.I. Attorney General Denise George announces that the Access and Visitation Program (AVP) of the V.I. Department of Justice (DOJ) Paternity and Child Support Division (PCSD), is partnering with the Department of Education (DOE) St. Thomas and St. John School District, in a national initiative for fathers to take their children to school on August 8th.

Attorney General Denise N. George: Drug Distributors and Johnson & Johnson Commit to $26 Billion Opioid Agreement

U.S. Virgin Islands – Attorney General Denise N. George announced today the final approval of the $26 billion opioid agreement with the nation’s three major pharmaceutical distributors – Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen – and Johnson & Johnson. Following successful state sign-on and subdivision sign-on periods, the defendants will start releasing funds to a national administrator on April 2, 2022. Money will start flowing to state and local governments and territories in the second quarter of 2022.

AG Denise George: Senator Marvin Blyden Charged with violation of V.I. Criminal Code

U.S. Virgin Islands – Attorney General Denise. N. George announces the filing of a criminal charge against Senator Marvin Blyden for willfully exposing the public to a contagious disease after testing positive for Covid-19, following a DOJ investigation. Senator Blyden is alleged to have tested positive for Covid-19 on September 15, 2021, and was ordered to quarantine until September 25, 2021, according to Department of Health officials. However, Members of the community, witnessed Senator Blyden out at an event at Tillet Gardens, on September 18, 2021, when he should have been home quarantining.

Attorney General Denise George Announces the Arrest of Fugitive Wanted on Sexual Assault Charges

(U.S. Virgin Islands) – Attorney General Denise George announces the arrest of 36-year-old Jose Angel Garcia who is charged with being a fugitive from Justice in the State of Florida. Garcia was arrested at approximately 8:15 AM on July 29, 2021, in the vicinity of 10AD Estate Calquohoun, St. Croix by agents from the Virgin Islands Department of Justice (VIDOJ).
