U.S. Virgin Islands – V.I. Attorney General Denise George announces that the Access and Visitation Program (AVP) of the V.I. Department of Justice (DOJ) Paternity and Child Support Division (PCSD), is partnering with the Department of Education (DOE) St. Thomas and St. John School District, in a national initiative for fathers to take their children to school on August 8th.
U.S. Virgin Islands – Attorney General Denise N. George announced today the final approval of the $26 billion opioid agreement with the nation’s three major pharmaceutical distributors – Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen – and Johnson & Johnson. Following successful state sign-on and subdivision sign-on periods, the defendants will start releasing funds to a national administrator on April 2, 2022. Money will start flowing to state and local governments and territories in the second quarter of 2022.
(U.S. Virgin Islands)- Acting V.I. Attorney General Carol Thomas-Jacobs has announced that 51-year-old Antonio Sanes-Carmona, a registered sex offender, was arrested by the V.I. Dept. of Justice (VIDOJ) Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) Unit on January 11, 2023. Sanes-Carmona, a St. Croix resident, was arrested for failure to comply with the Sex Offender registry.
(U.S. Virgin Islands)- Acting V.I. Attorney General Carol Thomas-Jacobs has announced that 29-year-old Omari Akeem Horton, a registered sex offender, was arrested by the V.I. Dept. of Justice (VIDOJ) Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) Unit on January 9, 2023. Horton was arrested for failure to comply with registration requirements for sex offenders in the Virgin Islands and failure to comply with the Sex Offender registry.
ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I. – Today, Attorney General for the U.S. Virgin Islands Denise N. George announced a settlement with Jeffrey E. Epstein’s estate, co-defendants Darren K. Indyke and Richard D. Kahn (Co-executors of the estate), and ten Epstein-created entities. The settlement resolves a law enforcement action filed in 2020 under the anti-criminal enterprise, sex trafficking, child exploitation and fraud laws of the Virgin Islands. The settlement only resolves the claims against the Estate and the co-defendants named in the Government’s lawsuit, noted Attorney General George.
