DOJ: Medical Examiner positively identifies the remains of 4 victims of helicopter crash in Botany Bay

U.S. Virgin Islands- Today V.I. Attorney General, Denise N. George released the official identities, manner and cause of death of 4 crash victims who died in a helicopter crash at the Preserve at Botany Bay on St.Thomas, Monday, February 15, 2021.
Blunt force trauma is determined as the cause of death for all 4

Following performance of the autopsies and forensic evaluations of the remains, Department of Justice Medical Examiner, Dr. Francisco Landron, positively identified each victim and certified the immediate cause of death of each victim as “Multiple injuries due to blunt force trauma.” The manner of death for each was certified as an “Accident.”

The crash victims, a pilot, and a family of three who were passengers of the aircraft were identified as:

• Maria Rodriguez Vanheurck, 55
• Daniel Yannone, 54
• Tyler Yannone, 18
• Neisha K. Zahn, 52

“On behalf of the Dept. of Justice, we again extend our deepest condolences. Our prayers and sympathies are with the families and friends of those who died as a result of this tragedy,” said AG George.
