DOJ: Criminal Charges Filed against Sex offender Avery Monsanto

St. Croix, V.I. – Atty General Denise George today announced the filing of formal criminal charges against 55-year-old Avery Monsanto in the Superior Court of the V.I. Monsanto of Harbor View Housing Community is a registered sex offender and was arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. His Advice of Rights hearing was held on March 13, 2020, at the Superior Court of the V.I. Magistrate Judge Ernest Morris, Jr. implemented pretrial release conditions with the following conditions: an unsecured bond of $25,000; report to probation office on a weekly basis, require written permission to leave the territory, remain employed, no direct contact with any witness or victim in his case, surrender his passport and not violate any laws of the Virgin Islands.

U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Releases Statement On The Epstein Estate’s Proposed Victim Fund

St. Thomas, V.I. – On January 15, 2020, the Attorney General of the Virgin Islands Denise N. George filed a civil enforcement action on behalf of the government against Jeffrey E. Epstein’s estate, his 1953 Trust and five associated entities based in the Virgin Islands. The lawsuit alleges that that Jeffrey Epstein and these associated entities participated in carrying out an expansive scheme of trafficking and sexually abusing young women and underage girls in the Virgin Islands. Through the lawsuit, the Virgin Islands seeks civil penalties, damages, injunctive relief, forfeiture of Epstein’s islands, and restitution for his victims.
