U.S. Virgin Islands – V.I. Attorney General Gordon C. Rhea announced that Keithley Jones was sentenced to 12 years in prison for First Degree Unlawful Sexual Contact.
U.S. Virgin Islands – V.I. Attorney General Gordon C. Rhea has announced the arrest and advice of rights hearing for 51-year-old Julian Enrique Cuello, a St. Thomas resident and fugitive wanted in Pennsylvania. Cuello, who was apprehended on St. Thomas, faces multiple charges related to Medicaid fraud in Pennsylvania and is currently awaiting extradition to stand trial in the state.
U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Department of Justice (DOJ) has successfully completed a training program focused on advanced trial techniques and investigative strategies. Hosted by the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), the training took place on St. Croix from March 17-18 and on St. Thomas from March 20-21, with each island hosting separate two-day sessions. This program brought together DOJ attorneys, investigators, and litigation support staff to hone their legal skills and enhance their practical expertise.
St. Thomas, V.I. – Today U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Ariel M. Smith announced the USVI Department of Justice has reached an historic victim-supporting settlement with JPMorgan Chase. The settlement includes significant commitments by JPMorgan Chase to curtail human trafficking, and payments by JPMorgan Chase to the USVI DOJ totaling $75 million.
St. Thomas, V.I. – The Victim Services Unit of the V.I. Department of Justice (DOJ) is teaming up with the Family Resource Center (FRC) to host this year’s observance of the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims slated for Monday Sept. 25th at 5:30pm at the Emancipation Garden in St. Thomas.
